Shahir Aliyar is a distinguished figure in the timber industry, hailing from a lineage that established Chandrika Sawmills in 1957 in Mudikkal, located on the banks of the Periyar River in Perumbavoor, Ernakulam district. A proud representative of the fourth generation of this pioneering family, Shahir embraced his heritage in 1995 by joining his father in the core veneer manufacturing sector. This venture significantly enhanced the plywood market across India.

In 2008, Shahir took a pivotal step by founding Chandrika Plywoods in Perumbavoor, Cochin. Under his leadership, the company evolved into a leading manufacturing hub equipped with advanced machinery. His forward-thinking approach led to the introduction of fully calibrated plywood manufacturing in the local industry, setting a new standard for quality and precision. Chandrika Plywoods, now operating under the brand name “Plymont”, offers a diverse range of high-quality plywood products distributed across both domestic and international markets. Shahir Aliyar envisioned making Plymont as South Asia’s first fully automated plywood manufacturing plant equipped with the latest technology.

Mr. Naveen Poddar has been a pivotal figure in propelling the company toward new heights of success. Since joining the family business, which was founded in 1992 in Bangalore as a humble wholesale shop for trading, Mr. Poddar has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence. Under his leadership, the company has become the go-to distributor for all interior and exterior decorative products across India.

Headquartered in Bangalore, SSP now operates multiple manufacturing units and distribution centers across India. His leadership has played a key role in developing a strong team culture, which now includes over 150 dedicated and long-serving members. Mr. Poddar’s approach is deeply rooted in trust, reliability, and a continuous pursuit of excellence.
